A new hood release cable is now being used on late model 1986 'A' style vehicles. The new cable has a mechanical advantage and reduces efforts required to unlatch the hood (P/N 10051003).
If customer comments of high efforts to release hood latches on 'A' style vehicles cannot be satisfied with proper alignments and/or lubrication, as per the recent Product Service Bulletin No. 86-2-144, dated June 30/86, the new hood cable can be used as a replacement to the old cable on current as well as past model vehicles.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
