Removal Procedure
- Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Remove the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical in the J Platform Service Manual.

Installation Procedure
- Install the CNG fuel line under the body of the vehicle.
- Install the fuel pipes into the body clips.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fuel
pipe mounting bolts into the body clips and the vehicle body.
Tighten
Tighten the body clip mounting bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Connect the fuel line
to the HPR using a new O-ring face seal. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum
jelly or the equivalent.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting at the HPR to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust heat shield attachment.
Tighten
• | Tighten the 2 exhaust shield nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in). |
• | Tighten the exhaust shield bolt to 1 N·m (9 lb in). |
- Connect the fuel line to the LPL line union (1) using a new O-ring face
seal. Lubricate the ORFS with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
