Diagnostic Aids

All retained accessory power (RAP) functions on this vehicle are controlled by the body control module (BCM) using class 2 serial data. If class 2 communication between the radio, BCM and data link connector (DLC) is functioning properly, and the door ajar switches are working properly, replace the BCM.

DEFINITION: The radio operates after the ignition has been OFF for 10 minutes.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

Verify that the doors are closed and perform the following:

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF for 5 seconds.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.

Do the retained accessory power (RAP) functions operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Open the driver door.
  3. With the scan tool, verify the Driver Door Ajar Switch input indicates Open.

Does the switch input indicate Open?

Go to Step 4

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.
