Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 758466  Size: SH
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 60247  Size: SH
  7. Remove the engine mount strut bracket bolts and bracket.
  8. Remove the lower AC compressor bolt.
  9. Loosen the upper AC compressor bolts.

  10. Object Number: 466580  Size: SH
  11. Remove the oil pan bolts.

  12. Object Number: 479939  Size: SH
  13. Remove the oil pan

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 412541  Size: SH
  1. Ensure that the oil pan and mounting surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
  2. Apply a 3.5 mm (0.138 in) bead of RTV GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening.

  4. Install the oil pan.

  5. Object Number: 466580  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the oil pan bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the AC compressor bolts. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

  9. Object Number: 60247  Size: SH
  10. Install the engine mount strut bracket and bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten engine mount bracket bolts to 66 N·m (49 lb ft).

  12. Install the engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
  13. Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Fill the engine oil to the proper level.
