Inspect the mode actuator for the following conditions:

    • Proper vacuum
    • Proper electrical connections

Are the electrical connections in good condition?

Repair the connections as needed.

Is the mode actuator still inoperative?

  1. Disconnect the engine source vacuum at the vacuum hose harness.
  2. Inspect for vacuum with the engine running.

Does vacuum exist?

Repair the vacuum hoses as needed.

Is the mode actuator still inoperative?

System OK

  1. Connect the vacuum hose harness.
  2. Remove the vacuum valve from the heater control with the engine running.
  3. Rotate the valve.
  4. Inspect for proper mode change.

Did the mode change?

Go to Step 7

Replace the mode selector switch. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the vacuum valve.
