Surge Tank Cap Pressure Test
Tools Required
| • | J 24460-01 Cooling
System and Cap Pressure Tester |
- Inspect the hose connections
for leaks.
- Inspect the surge tank cap for loss of pressure using the J 24460-92
and the J 24460-01
. If the surge tank cap does not hold
the rated pressure, replace the surge tank pressure cap.
- Use the correct pressure cap. Use only a 103 kPa (15 psi)
pressure cap.

Tools Required

- Inspect the connections of the coolant hoses for leaks. Repair
as required.
- Remove the surge tank cap.
- Install J 24460-01
to the surge tank. Follow the instructions
supplied with the J 24460-01
.
- Build up pressure to no more than 138 kPa (20 psi).
- The system should hold the pressure for about two minutes.
| • | If a measurable amount of pressure drops within two minutes, test
for a leak. |
