The center will also perform non-warranty repairs, although replacement units required because of collision damage, etc., are to be obtained through GMSPO.

Exchange Procedure

If a condition is encountered requiring cluster replacement, use the following procedure:

1. Once diagnosis indicates the need for an exchange cluster, contact Nippondenso through the toll-free number with the following information:

Dealer Name Vehicle Delivery Date Dealer Code VIN Address Repair Order Number City Mileage State Part Number Zip Code (GM #22532692-85 MPH) Phone Number (GM #22534193-120 MPH) Purchase Order Number

The toll-free number can be called 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your order will be shipped to the dealership prepaid via UPS unless the dealership specifies differently.

2. Nippondenso will invoice the dealer for the exchange unit, a core charge and shipping charges. The charge will be approximately $50.00 plus a $300.00 core charge. All units shipped by Nippondenso will be identified as rebuilt.

3. The form enclosed with the replacement cluster is to be completed by the dealership and white and yellow copies returned along with a copy of the dealership repair order and the removed cluster assembly to Nippondenso. (See attached example). The pink copy may be used as an accounting copy. The gold copy should be attached to the scrapping copy of the repair order.

Nippondenso will provide core charge credit ($300.00) to the dealer upon receipt of the removed cluster. Chevrolet will not reimburse the dealer for the core charge on a warranty claim.

4. Special care should be exercised when packaging the removed cluster in the returnable container to prevent damage in transit. Failure to return the cluster in the special reusable container may result in a $10.00 container replacement fee.

Replaced clusters are to be shipped postage paid via UPS along with the completed Nippondenso form and a copy of applicable dealership repair order.

5. A copy of the repair invoice will be included with the replacement cluster. Another copy of the invoice will be mailed separately. The core charge portion of the invoice will be cancelled upon return of the defective parts within 30 days. Failure to return the inoperative removed cluster in the special reusable container could result in forfeiting of the core charge.

Warranty Information

The dealer will be billed directly by Nippondenso for the exchange charge and shipping, regardless of whether the repair is warranty or non-warranty. Dealer should pay Nippondenso immediately (except for core charge) and then submit a claim to Chevrolet for vehicles covered by Chevrolet warranty. Chevrolet will reimburse dealers for this repair during the warranty period under the normal warranty claim submission process. An additional 0.2 hour administrative allowance will be paid if applied for in the other labor hours column. Also, shipping charges should be included on the claim to reflect shipment from and to Nippondenso.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
