GURGLING SOUND AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF

Model and Year: 1985 & 1986 CAVALIERS EQUIPPED WITH 2.8L V-6 ENGINES

Some Cavaliers built prior to December 15, 1985 and equipped with 2.8L V-6 engines may experience an after boil condition.

This condition may occur after the vehicle has been driven under heavy engine load conditions (such as driving up a steep hill), and is immediately turned off before the engine has returned to normal operating temperatures. After shutting the engine off, coolant expansion may be accompanied by a noticeable gurgling sound, and may cause the coolant reservoir to overflov.

To eliminate the actual overflov, a nev coolant reservoir (P/N 14093493) has been released for production and service use. This reservoir has an additional 20 ounce capacity and may be installed in vehicles equipped with a 2.8L V-6 engine and built prior to December 15, 1985. Two replacement clamps (P/N 477402) are required; hovever, both hoses may be reused.

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation Number J3260 for .2 hours.
