The purpose of this bulletin is to provide an aid for determining the required 1983 Fisher matching color standards for lacquer, waterborne enamel and high solids enamel.
All 1983 cars assembled in Oklahoma City (Citation and Celebrity) match the lacquer standards for color, even though the body plate will show a "W" after the paint code (i.e. 15W) indicating the paint technology as being waterborne enamel. See Chart #1 for Oklahoma City lacquer color standards.
See Chart #2 for 1983 Norwood (Camaro) colors that match high solids enamel standards.
See Chart #3 for 1983 Van Nuys (Camaro) colors that match waterborne standards.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
