ALL JANESVILLE "J-27-69" STYLES BUILT BEFORE JULY 12, 1982 HAVE THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID TORQUE RODS INSTALLED IN THE REVERSE POSITION. THIS CONDITION WILL NOT ALLOW FULL OUTPUT OF THE TORQUE RODS. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION THE TORQUE RODS MUST BE REVERSED FROM RIGHT SIDE TO LEFT SIDE AS OUTLINED BELOW: 1.RAISE THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID AND PROP IT OPEN. REMOVE THE RIGHT AND LEFT QUARTER WHEELHOUSE TRIM AS REQUIRED. 2.USING TOOL J-21412 OR EQUIVALENT, DISENGAGE THE TORQUE ROD END FROM THE BRACKET AND ALLOW THE ROD TO SLOWLY UNWIND, REMOVE THE ROD, REPEAT ON THE OTHER SIDE. RIGHT SIDE UNWINDS REARWARD LEFT SIDE UNWINDS FORWARD. 3.REINSTALL THE ROD REMOVED FROM THE RIGHT SIDE ON THE LEFT, INSTALL THE LEFT ROD ON THE RIGHT SIDE. 4.CHECK THE LID OPERATION AND ADJUST THE RODS AS REQUIRED. REPLACE ALL THE PREVIOUSLY REMOVED TRIM.
