Compass Calibration

Subject:Compass Calibration

Models:2007 Chevrolet Captiva (Export Only)

Because all Captiva vehicles have been shipped with the main fuse disconnected, the compass calibration should be done prior to delivery of the vehicle to the customer. If the compass is not calibrated, the compass will not operate properly.

The compass calibration should be conducted whenever the Driver Information Center (DIC) or the battery is disconnected.

Use the following compass calibration procedure:

  1. Press the MODE and SET buttons simultaneously for more than two seconds. The compass display in the DIC will be flashing.

  2. Object Number: 2041474 Size: SH
  3. Turn the vehicle around one complete circle within 90 seconds slowly. If enough space is not available to turn around in one circle, turn the vehicle around as shown above. The calibration will then be complete. When the calibration is finished, the compass display does not flash anymore.
  4. In the compass calibration mode, press the SET button to move to declination calibration. If necessary, conduct the declination calibration. Using the up / down triangle buttons, it is possible to calibrate the declination depending upon the region. The default declination value is 5 degrees toward West. Whenever pressing the up or down triangle button, 5 degrees change. The regional declination calibration value is variant depending upon the region.
