Removal Procedure

The rear suspension jounce bumper (2) is located on the frame, above the rear axle housing (1).

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 481842  Size: SH
  3. Support the rear axle (1) with an adjustable lifting device (2).

  4. Object Number: 481848  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts (1).

  6. Object Number: 181230  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bumper (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 181230  Size: SH
  1. Install the bumper (2). Install the bumper spacer (WS6 only).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts and the screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and the screws (4) to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Remove the adjustable rear axle support.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
