SMU - SECTIONS 8A - 133/9D - REVISED PASS KEY (R) II

Subject: Sections 8A-133/9D - Revised Pass-Key ll, Universal Theft --------------------------------------------------------- Deterrent System Symptom Table ------------------------------

Models: 1993-95 Chevrolet Camaro ------------------------ 1993-95 Pontiac Firebird ------------------------

This bulletin is being issued to revise the Pass-Key ll, Universal Theft Deterrent System Symptom Table on pages 9D-10 (1993-94) and 8A-133-6 (1995) in the Service Manual.

The Symptom Table has been changed to re-order procedures when diagnosing the condition: SECURITY Indicator ON steady (not flashing); engine starts. Diagnosing this condition should start with Chart #5 first to diagnose the Lock Cylinder and wiring. If OK, go to Chart #3 to check the Theft Deterrent Module and wiring. These steps will save time by accessing easy to reach components first.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
