CONDITION:

You may receive comments that some 1992 F-Cars built with 5.OL engines (VIN code "E" or "F"; RPO L03 or LB9) and 5-speed manual transmissions (RPO MK6 or M39) may experience a condition of premature wear of the clutch driven disc Evidence of this condition may be loss of vehicle motion in both the forward and reverse gears.

CORRECTION: While the Owner's Manual states that 'normal' clutch driven disc wear is not covered under the vehicle's warranty, this premature wear condi- tion should not be considered "normal". In order to maintain customer satis- faction, clutch driven disc concerns due to this premature wear condition will be covered under the three years or 36,000 miles warranty, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. However, does NOT cover other conditions which may necessitate replacement of the clutch driven disc.

If you receive a comment for premature clutch driven disc wear, replace both the clutch driven disc and clutch cover per procedures stated in the applicable service manual. Use the following part numbers:

Part Description Part No.

Clutch Driven Disc 10232736 Clutch Cover 10232737

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

Use applicable labor operation code.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
