Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column Tilt.

  3. Object Number: 421402  Size: SH
  4. Remove 2 tapping screws (1) from the interlock solenoid assembly (2).
  5. Remove the interlock solenoid assembly (2) from the lock cylinder housing assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 421402  Size: SH
  1. Install the interlock solenoid assembly (2) to the lock cylinder housing assembly.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 2 tapping screws (1) into the interlock solenoid assembly (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the tapping screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  5. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column Tilt.
  6. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
