DEFINITION: This test assumes that all of the other switch functions except one or more of the memory functions are working properly. The seat adjuster ground circuit is assumed to be good because the other seat adjustment functions are working properly.

Important: The memory seat functions will only operate while the transmission is in the PARK position.

Did you perform the Power Seat Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the memory switch (seat adjuster switch) is inoperative.

Does the memory switch operate normally?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Access the seat adjuster switch.
  2. Backprobe the affected memory switch (seat adjuster switch) feed circuit, memory set, memory position 1, or memory position 2.
  3. Test the memory switch feed circuit for voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.

Is voltage present?

Go to Step 4

  1. Test the memory switch (seat adjuster switch) feed circuit for voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  2. Operate the applicable memory switch ( seat adjuster switch) for the feed circuit beeing tested.

Does the voltage move from HIGH to LOW?

Test the memory switch (seat adjuster switch) feed circuit for a high resistance, open, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Replace the seat adjuster memory module. Refer to Memory Seat Control Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

--

Go to Step 8

Replace the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

  1. Reinstall any parts that may have been removed and reconnect any connectors that may have been disconnected.
  2. Check for any DTCs that may have been stored in the seat adjuster memory module.

Did you find any DTCs in the seat adjuster memory module?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Clearing

Go to Step 9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you find and correct the condition?

System OK
