A permanent magnet motor operates each of the power side windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass when voltage is supplied to that motor. The direction the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage. The side window switches control the supply voltage polarity.

The right front door lock and side window switch controls all the side window regulator motors. The other window switches controls only the window regulator in that door.

Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If a window switch is held too long with the window obstructed or after the window is fully up or down the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breaker resets automatically as it cools.

Right Hand Window Switch Operation of the RF window

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to supply battery voltage to the RH door lock and side window switch and the express down module through the POWER WINDOWS circuit breaker and CKT 1001 (DK GRN). Press the RF window switch in the UP position in order to supply battery voltage to the RF side window regulator motor and the express down module through CKT 164 (DK BLU). The express down module provides a ground for the RF side window regulator motor is grounded through CKT 638 (PPL) and through CKT 165 (BRN) to the RH door lock and side window switch DOWN contact to ground 1850 (BLK). The RF side window regulator motor runs to drive the window up. For auto down operation battery voltage is supplied to the express down module through CKT 1001 (DK GRN). When the RF window switch is pressed momentarily in the DOWN position a signal is supplied to the express down module through CKT 165 (BRN) to tell the express down module to provide reduced battery voltage to the side window regulator motor in the opposite direction through CKT 638 (PPL). The window regulator motor is grounded through the CKT 164 (DK BLU) and the RH side window switch UP contact. The motor runs in order to drive the window down at a reduced speed until the window is completely down or until the switch is pressed again in either direction. If the RF window switch is held in the down position the express module will supply full voltage through CKT 638 (PPL) to the RF side window regulator motor in order to drive the window down at full speed until the switch is released or the window is completely down.

LF Window Operation

The LF side window can be operated from either the RH or LH door lock and side window switches. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to supply battery voltage through the POWER WINDOWS circuit breaker and CKT 1001 (DK GRN) to the RH door lock and side window switch the side window lockout switch and the express down module. When the side window lockout switch is in the NORMAL position battery voltage is supplied through CKT 1307 (DK BLU) to the LH door lock and side window switch . When the RF window switch is pressed in the UP position for the LF window, battery voltage is supplied through CKT 166 (LT BLU) through the normally closed UP contacts of the LF side window switch. If the LH door lock and side window switch is pressed in the UP position the operation bypasses CKT 166 (LT BLU). The battery voltage then flows to the LF side window regulator motor through CKT 666 (DK BLU). The ground is provided by the express down module and the LH and RH (normally closed) DOWN contacts via CKT's 1136 (GRY), 667 (BRN), 167 (TAN), and 1850, 1050 (BLK) to G204. The LF side window regulator motor runs to drive the window up. For auto down operation battery voltage is supplied to the express down module through CKT 1001 (DK GRN). When the RH or LH front window switch is pressed momentarily in the DOWN position a signal is supplied to the express down module through CKT 667 (BRN) and CKT 167 for the RH door lock and side window switch, to tell the express down module to provide reduced battery voltage to the side window regulator motor in the opposite direction through CKT 1136 (GRY). The window regulator motor ground is provided by the express down module and the LH and RH (normally closed) UP contacts via CKT's 666 (DK BLU), 166 (LT BLU), and 1850, 1050 (BLK) to G204. The motor runs in order to drive the window down at a reduced speed until the window is completely down or until the switch is pressed again in either direction. If the RH or LH door lock and side window switch is held in the down position the express module will supply full voltage through CKT 1136 (GRY) to the LF side window regulator motor in order to drive the window down at full speed until the switch is released or the window is completely down.

LR Side Window Operation

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to supply voltage through the POWER WINDOWS circuit breaker and CKT 1001 (DK GRN) to the RH door lock and side window switch the side window lockout switch. When the side window lockout switch is in the NORMAL position battery voltage is supplied through CKT 1307 (DK BLU) to the LR side window switch. For LR window UP operation. When the RH door lock and side window UP switch for the LR side window is pressed battery voltage is supplied to the LR side window regulator motor through CKT,s 168 (DK GRN), 668 (DK BLU) and through the normally closed UP contacts of the LR side window switch. Ground for the LR side window regulator motor is provided by CKT's 669 (BRN), 169 (PPL) and 1850, 1050 (BLK) via the normally closed DOWN contacts of the LR side window switch and the RH door lock and side window switch. The motor will run to drive the window up. If the LR side window is pressed to the UP position CKT 168 (DK GRN) is bypassed, the rest of the circuit works the same. For LR window DOWN operation the RH door lock and side window DOWN switch for the LR side window is pressed battery voltage is supplied to the LR side window regulator motor through CKT,s 169 (PPL), 669 (BRN) and through the normally closed DOWN contacts of the LR side window switch. Ground for the LR side window regulator motor is provided by CKT's 668 (DK BLU), 168 (DK GRN) and 1850, 1050 (BLK) via the normally closed UP contacts of the LR side window switch and the RH door lock and side window switch. The motor will run to drive the window down. If the LR side window is pressed to the DOWN position CKT 169 (PPL) is bypassed the rest of the circuit works the same.

RR Side Window Operation

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to supply voltage through the POWER WINDOWS circuit breaker and CKT 1001 (DK GRN) to the RH door lock and side window switch the side window lockout switch. When the side window lockout switch is in the NORMAL position battery voltage is supplied through CKT 1307 (DK BLU) to the RR side window switch. For RR window UP operation. When the RH door lock and side window UP switch for the RR side window is pressed battery voltage is supplied to the RR side window regulator motor through CKT,s 170 (LT GRN), 168 (DK GRN), 668 (DK BLU) and through the normally closed UP contacts of the RR side window switch. Ground for the RR side window regulator motor is provided by CKT's 669 (BRN), 169 (PPL), 171 (PPL) and 1850, 1050 (BLK) via the normally closed DOWN contacts of the RR side window switch and the RH door lock and side window switch. The motor will run to drive the window up. If the RR side window is pressed to the UP position CKT 168 (DK GRN), and CKT 170 (LT GRN) is bypassed, the rest of the circuit works the same. For RR window DOWN operation the RH door lock and side window DOWN switch for the RR side window is pressed battery voltage is supplied to the RR side window regulator motor through CKT,s 171 (PPL), 169 (PPL), 669 (BRN) and through the normally closed DOWN contacts of the RR side window switch. Ground for the RR side window regulator motor is provided by CKT's 668 (DK BLU), 168 (DK GRN), 170 (LT GRN), and 1850, 1050 (BLK) via the normally closed UP contacts of the RR side window switch and the RH door lock and side window switch. The motor will run to drive the window down. If the RR side window is pressed to the DOWN position CKT's 171 (PPL), and 169 (PPL) is bypassed the rest of the circuit works the same.
