Verify that the high beam indicator is always on.

Does the high beam indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  3. Use the Multifunction Switch (Headlamp Dimmer /Flash-to-Pass Switch) to switch from low to high beams.

Do the headlamps function properly?

Using a scan tool, select IPC, Special Functions, and command the high beam indicator lamp ON, then OFF.

Does the lamp turn ON and OFF when commanded?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 5

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
