Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Remove the upper steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Disconnect the electrical connections to the turn signal switch.
- Remove the turn signal switch.
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
| 4.1. | Squeeze the top and bottom retaining tabs as shown in illustration. |
| 4.2. | Hold the turn signal switch by the stalk and pull out to the right of side of vehicle. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the turn signal switch to the steering column.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the turn signal switch.
- Install the upper steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
Important: Make sure the turn signal switch retaining tabs click into position.
