Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 385252 Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the lower steering column trim cover from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
  3. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
  4. Remove the ignition switch mounting screws.
  5. Remove the ignition switch from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 385252 Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition switch to the vehicle.
  2. Install the ignition switch mounting screws.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the ignition switch mounting screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  3. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.
  4. Install the lower steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
