Verify that the radio display and/or buttons do not illuminate.

Do the radio display and buttons illuminate normally?

  1. Disconnect the radio connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Provide enough ambient light in order to simulate daytime.
  4. Connect a test lamp from CKT 1382 (PPL/WHT) at the radio connector cavity F5 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Using a testlamp connected to ground, backprobe the BCM connector C2 cavity A12.

Does the test lamp light?

Service the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Is the service of the radio complete?

Diagnose the body control module (BCM). Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in CKT 1382 (PPL/WHT) between the radio and the body control module (BCM). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
