Verify that the high beam indicator is inoperative.

Does the high beam indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  3. Use the Multifunction Switch (Headlamp Dimmer /Flash-to-Pass Switch) to switch on the high beams.

Do the headlamps function properly?

Using a scan tool, select IPC, Special Functions, and command the high beam indicator Lamp ON, then OFF.

Does the lamp turn ON and OFF when commanded?

  1. Inspect for a defective High Beam Indicator bulb. Refer to Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. If the bulb is good, replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Locate and repair the open in CKT 524 (PPL) to the BCM. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
