Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Remove the turn signal switch. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Insert the key into the ignition cylinder and turn the key to the start position.
- Using an awl, insert the tip into the ignition lock cylinder access hole.
- Push down gently on the awl and remove the lock cylinder from the steering column.
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Installation Procedure
- Perform the following steps to install the ignition cylinder to the steering column.
- Install the turn signal switch. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
| 1.1. | Align the positioning locking tab slot on the lock module assembly to the positioning tab on the ignition lock cylinder. |
| 1.2. | Puch the lock cylinder in until the locking tab locks in the lock module assembly. |
