For 1990-2009 cars only
- Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
- Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1).
- Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1) in the following way:
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
| 4.1. | Press on the locking tabs of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1). |
| 4.2. | Pull the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1) out of the signal switch housing assembly. |
