Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 592766  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the combination valve (3).
  2. Remove the front and rear brake pipes (from master cylinder) from the combination valve.
  3. Remove the right front, left front and rear brake pipes from the tube adapters (8).

  4. Object Number: 379567  Size: SH
  5. Remove the four 10 mm bolts (3) that fasten the EHCU bracket (5) to the vehicle mounting bracket (2, 9).

  6. Object Number: 592766  Size: SH
  7. Lift the EHCU partially out of the engine compartment, or push it forward to access the electrical connectors.
  8. Disconnect the four electrical connectors from EBCM (11).
  9. Fully remove the EHCU from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the three Allen bolts (4) from the combination valve (3).
  11. Remove the combination valve (3).
  12. Important: Do not reuse the transfer tubes. Always install new transfer tubes.

  13. Remove the two transfer tubes (2).
  14. Remove the two 13 mm bolts (6) that fasten the EHCU mounting bracket (7) to the BPMV (10).
  15. Remove the four T-25 Torx® bolts (1) from the EBCM (11).
  16. Important: Do not use a tool to pry the EBCM or the BPMV. Excessive force will damage the EBCM.

  17. Remove the EBCM (11) from the BPMV (10). Removal may require a light amount of force.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new transfer tubes (2) into the combination valve (3).
  2. Install the combination valve (3) onto the BPMV (10).
  3. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Do not reuse the old EBCM mounting bolts. Always install new mounting bolts with the new EBCM.

    Important: Do not use RTV or any other type of sealant on the EBCM gasket or mating surfaces.

  4. Install the three Allen bolts (4) that fasten the combination valve (3) to the BPMV (10).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the three Allen bolts (3) to 8 N·m (6 lb ft), then to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  6. Install EBCM (11) onto BPMV (10).
  7. Install the four new EBCM bolts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the four bolts to 5 N·m (39 lb in) in an X-pattern.

  9. Install BPMV (10) to the vehicle mounting bracket (7).
  10. Install the two retaining bolts (6) that fastens the BPMV (10) to vehicle mounting bracket (7).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the two retaining bolts to 9 N·m (7 lb ft).

  12. Place the EHCU back into the vehicle, and connect the four electrical connectors to the EBCM.

  14. Install the EHCU (4) to the vehicle frame (2, 9).
  15. Install the four bolts (3) that fasten the EHCU bracket (5) to the vehicle mounting bracket (2, 9).
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  17. Install the right front, left front and rear brake pipes to the tube adapters.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the three brake pipe fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  19. Install the front and rear brake pipes (from master cylinder) to the combination valve (3).
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the three brake pipe fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  21. Connect the electrical connector (5) to the combination valve (3).
  22. Important: Verify that the combination valve metering rod is depressed during bleeding.

  23. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure
  24. Return to Diagnostic System Check .
