Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 911  Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the bolts attaching the underhood fuse block to the mounting bracket. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the bolts attaching the electronic brake control module bracket to the inner fender well. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum booster.
  5. Detach the cruise control/throttle cable retainer from the vacuum booster.
  6. Remove the bolts attaching the master cylinder to vacuum booster. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  7. Reposition the master cylinder away from the vacuum booster.
  8. Remove the steering column support bracket. Refer to Steering Column Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Remove the brake pedal pushrod.
  10. Remove the nuts attaching the vacuum booster to the bulkhead.
  11. Remove the vacuum booster assembly.
  12. Remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 911  Size: SH
  1. Install the vacuum booster assembly and the gasket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the vacuum booster mounting nuts on the vacuum booster.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake pedal pushrod.
  6. Install the steering column support bracket. Refer to Steering Column Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Gauge the booster rod. Refer to Power Brake Booster Push Rod Gauging .
  8. Position the master cylinder to the vacuum booster.
  9. Install the bolts attaching the master cylinder to vacuum booster. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  10. Attach the cruise control/throttle cable retainer from the vacuum booster.
  11. Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum booster.
  12. Install the bolts attaching the electronic brake control module bracket to the inner fender well. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  13. Install the bolts attaching the underhood fuse block to the mounting bracket. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical.
