Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 131  Size: SH
  4. Remove the caliper mounting bolts.

  5. Object Number: 139  Size: SH

    Notice: Support the caliper with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake line.

  6. Remove the brake caliper and hang the caliper from the suspension.
  7. Remove the rotor.

  8. Object Number: 130906  Size: SH

    Important: Do not hammer on a wheel hub bolt.

  9. Remove the wheel hub bolt using J 6627-A .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wheel hub bolt to the hub and bearing assembly.

  2. Object Number: 8939  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install four washers and the nut to the wheel hub bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel hub bolt nut to 130 N·m (95 lb ft), drawing in the wheel hub bolt.

  5. Remove the nut and the washers.
  6. Install the rotor.

  7. Object Number: 131  Size: SH
  8. Install the caliper and the caliper mounting bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 115 N·m (85 lb ft).

  10. Install the tire and the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
