Removal Procedure
- Recover refrigerant from the air conditioning
system.
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to
Battery Tray Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect air conditioning compressor hose from condenser.
- Disconnect the air conditioning compressor hose from the clips
on top of the upper radiator shroud.
- Disconnect the front differential vent hose from the upper radiator
fan shroud
- Remove the upper fan shroud screws.
- Reposition the air conditioning compressor hose up and remove
the upper radiator shroud.
- Remove the cooling fan. Refer to
Fan Clutch Replacement
.
- Remove
the lower fan shroud from the vehicle.
9.1. | Insert a flat blade screw driver into the lower fan shroud locating
tab. |
9.2. | While gently pulling the lower fan shroud upward, turn the screw
driver to release the locating tab from the radiator. |
9.3. | Release the remaining two locating tab using the above steps. |
Installation Procedure
- Place the lower fan shroud in the vehicle.
1.1. | Position the lower fan shroud against the radiator. |
1.2. | Engage the three locating tabs by pushing down. |
- Install the cooling fan. Refer to
Fan Clutch Replacement
.
- Install the upper fan shroud to the lower fan shroud.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fan
shroud attaching screws.
Tighten
Tighten the fan shroud attaching screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the front differential vent hose to the upper radiator
fan shroud
- Connect the air conditioning compressor hose to the clips on top
of the upper radiator shroud.
- Connect air conditioning compressor hose to condenser.
- Install the battery tray. Refer to
Battery Tray Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Recharge refrigerant to the air conditioning system.
