Rear Hatch Inoperative from Rear Hatch Handle

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A concern has been identified that may cause the rear hatch (exterior) handle to become inoperative. This condition is created when the actuator rod to pops out of the retainer in the handle. A new (slightly longer) rod that should eliminate this condition is available.

Please install the updated rear hatch handle rod assembly.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
