Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Remove the screws from
the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate.
- Pull the I/P cluster trim plate (1) rearward. Pull up and
out to release the lower retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the trip reset
switch (3).
- Disengage the retainers on the trip reset switch. Remove the trip
reset switch from the I/P cluster trim plate.
- Remove the I/P cluster trim plate.
Installation Procedure
- Install the trip reset
switch (3) to the I/P cluster trim plate (1). Press the switch
into place until fully seated.
- Connect the electrical connector (2) to the
trip reset switch.
- Position the retainers on the I/P cluster trim plate to the slots
in the I/P.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the I/P
cluster trim plate screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper trim
cover from the steering column. Refer to
Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle
in Steering Wheel
and Column.
- Remove the lower screws from the instrument panel (I/P) cluster
trim plate.
- Remove the upper screws (1)
from the I/P cluster trim plate.
- Remove the I/P cluster trim plate.
Installation Procedure
- Position the trim plate
tabs to the retainers on the I/P cluster.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the lower screws
to the I/P cluster trim plate.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
