Removal Procedure
Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Remove the brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
Remove the brake hose. Refer to
Rear Brake Hose Replacement
.
Remove the park brake cable from the backing plate. Refer to
Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement
.
Remove the hub and bearing assembly (1). Refer to
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement
in Rear Suspension.
Remove the backing plate (4).
Remove the wheel cylinder bolts and the wheel cylinder.
Installation Procedure
Install the wheel cylinder to the backing plate. Refer to
Wheel Cylinder Replacement
.
Install the backing plate (4) to the axle assembly.
Install the hub and bearing assembly (1). Refer to
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement
in Rear Suspension.
Install the park brake cable to the backing plate. Refer to
Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement
.
Install the brake hose. Refer to
Rear Brake Hose Replacement
.
Install the brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
Bleed the brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
in Hydraulic Brakes.
Lower the vehicle.
