Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front tires and wheels. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the fender liner as required. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
.
- Use J 38778
to remove the push-in retainers holding the engine splash shield to the lower
flange of the engine compartment side rail.
- Remove the bolts from the engine splash shield.
- Remove the engine splash shield from the lower flange of the engine
compartment side rail.
Installation Procedure
- Position the engine splash shield to the lower flange of the engine
compartment side rail.
- Align the holes in the engine splash shield to the holes in the
outboard side engine compartment side rail.
- Install the push-in retainers to the engine splash shield.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws to the engine splash
shield.
Tighten
Tighten the engine splash shield screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the fender liner. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
.
- Install the front tires and wheels. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
