Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power window
switch, if equipped. Refer to
Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the door trim panel screw (1) through the switch
bezel opening.
- Remove the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Remove the screw (3) from the access hole in the rear door
arm-rest pull handle.
- Remove the rear door warning reflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Warning Reflector Replacement
.
- Remove the door trim panel screw (2) through the rear door
warning reflector opening.
- Disengage the retaining clips in order to remove the door trim
panel from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Install the trim panel
by engaging the retaining clips to the door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the door
trim panel screw (2) through the rear door warning reflector opening.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw (2) to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the rear door warning reflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Warning Reflector Replacement
.
- Install the screw (3) through the access hole in the rear
door arm-rest pull handle.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw (3) to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Install the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Install the door trim panel screw (1) through the switch
bezel opening.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw (1) to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to
Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure
- Remove the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the door panel
screw through the switch bezel opening.
- Using J 38778
and starting at the door bottom, disengage
the door trim panel retainers.
- Lift up on the trim panel to disengage the panel from
the inner belt molding.
- Remove the door trim panel (1) from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Position the trim panel on the inside belt molding and press down.
- Install the rear door
trim panel (1) to the door, pressing into place until the retainers
are fully seated.
- Install the door panel
screw through the switch bezel opening.
- Install the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement

- Install the power window switch. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
