Fasten Belts Chime
When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN or the START position,
voltage is applied through the Ignition 1 positive voltage feed circuit
to the BCM. When the left front seat belt is unbuckled, the seat belt switch
input circuit grounds through the seatbelt switch. The fasten belts chime
sounds for 8 seconds.
Key in Ignition Chime
The Key In Ignition Warning chime sounds when the key is in the ignition,
not in the ON or START position and the Drivers door is open. Inserting a
key in the ignition switch closes the ignition key warning switch,
which applies a ground input to the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM
sounds the key in ignition chime.
Lamps On Chime
In order for the Lamps on chime to be activated, the following needs
to occur via BCM inputs:
• | The headlamp switch in HEAD or PARK position |
• | The ignition switch in OFF or ACC position |
Park Brake Warning Chime
The park brake warning chime activates when the body control module
(BCM) receives a ground signal from the park brake switch and a class 2 message
from the powertrain control module (PCM) indicating the vehicle speed is greater
than 5 km/h (8 mph). The park brake warning chime will also
sound if the vehicle is in gear for at least 8 seconds with the park
brake on.
Inspect Gauges Chime
The check gauges chime sounds 3 notes every time one of the following
indicators turns on and the engine has been running for more than 5 seconds:
• | Brake Indicator via Serial Data Command |
The check gauges chime sounds 3 tones at a rate of 300 tones
per minute. The check gauges chime is not limited to once per ignition cycle
for the door ajar indicator when the transaxle is in Drive or Reverse. The
chime sounds whenever the activating conditions occur throughout an ignition
cycle.
