J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 338001  Size: SH

    Notice: When the column is removed from the vehicle, actions such as a sharp blow on the end of the steering shaft or shift lever, leaning on the column assembly, or dropping the assembly could shear or loosen the plastic fasteners that maintain column rigidity.

  1. Place J 41352 onto a vise.
  2. Place the steering column onto J 41352 when you remove the steering column from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the retaining ring (1).
  4. Cut the tie strap which secures the coil download wires to the tilt housing.

  5. Object Number: 338007  Size: SH
  6. Set aside the black wire spacer (4).
  7. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2).
  8. Remove the wave washer (1).

    Object Number: 293254  Size: SH
  1. Center the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.

  2. Object Number: 338007  Size: SH
  3. Install the wave washer (1).
  4. Important: If installing the existing inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil, it must be centered first.

  5. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle .
  6. A new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil will come precentered. Do not remove the tab until installation is complete.
  7. Align the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil with the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly.

  8. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2) onto the shaft assembly.
  9. Secure the coil downlead wires to the tilt housing with the tie wrap and the black wire spacer (4).

  10. Object Number: 338001  Size: SH
  11. Install the retaining ring (1).
  12. Pull the orange tab on the new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and remove.
  13. Remove the steering column from J 41352 to install into the vehicle.
