Power Steering Pump Replacement RPO LH2

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
  2. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  3. Remove the power steering reservoir outlet pipe/hose. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1334649  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts from the power steering pump.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1334649  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts to the power steering pump.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering reservoir outlet pipe/hose. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement
  6. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  7. Install the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
  8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Use a suitable tool to remove the fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.
  3. Remove the supercharger drive belt. Refer to Supercharger Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the air conditioner belt tensioner. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  5. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  6. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to. Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Inlet Hose Clamp

Tip

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Release the hose clamp and pull the inlet hose off of the power steering pump inlet tube.

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Remove the power steering pump bolts from the pump.

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Important: When removing or replacing the power steering pump and/or pulley a special purpose grease must be applied to the splined shaft of the power steering pump.

Power Steering Pump

Tip

  1. Pull the power steering pump from the bracket.
  2. Apply grease GM® P/N 1051344 (Canada P/N 993037) to the splines on the power steering pump shaft.

Power Steering Pump Pressure Hose Fitting Bolt

Tip
Remove the power steering pressure hose bolt from the pump.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)
