04 Cadillac SRX and XLR 5L50E No Fourth or Fifth Gear Possible Codes P0700 P0741 P0762 - kw 3-4 shift 4-5 code DTC

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Vehicle will command the 3-4 and 4-5 upshift but no fourth or fifth gear is obtained. Possible DTC's P0700, P0741, P0762 may or may not be present. The transmission may have metal debris in the pan.

The direct clutch backing plate snap ring may have moved out of position. Currently, the direct clutch is not serviceable but will be in the near future. Repair as necessary.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
