Removal Procedure
Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the
SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment,
personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Disable the SIR system.
Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Adjust the front seat assembly up and forward in order to access
the fasteners (1) at the rear of the front seat cushion assembly
- Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (1), at
the rear of the seat cushion.
- Adjust the front seat
assembly towards the rear of the vehicle.
- Angle the front of the front seat cushion (1) up, in order
to access the remaining front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
- Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
- Lift the front seat cushion assembly (1) away from the
seat riser assembly.
- Disconnect the heated
seat cushion electrical connector, if equipped with KA1.
- Disconnect the air lines for the adaptive lumbar, if equipped
with AC9.
- Disconnect the wire harnesses retainers from the bottom of the
seat cushion frame.
Important: The lumbar switch knob (1) is part of the lumbar switch assembly.
Do not remove the lumbar switch knob.
- Remove the knobs (5,6)
from the seat switch.
- Remove the seat switch
trim plate.
- Pull the front seat cushion
cover up in order to expose the seat switch.
- Using the J 38778
remove the switch bracket retainers.
- Release the locking tabs
on the switch mounting bracket, and remove the switches and bracket assembly
from the seat bottom frame.
- Remove the seat cushion assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat switch
to the seat cushion frame.
- Pull the seat cushion
cover over the seat switch and align holes in the cover to the switch assembly.
- Engage the J channels to the seat cushion frame.
- Install the seat switch trim plate bezel.
- Install the knobs (5,6)
to the switch.
- Connect the heated seat
cushion electrical connectors, if equipped with KA1.
- Connect the air lines for the adaptive lumbar, if equipped with
AC9.
- Attach the air line and wire harnesses to the seat cushion frame.
- Install the seat cushion
assembly (1) to the seat riser.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front fasteners (2) to the seat cushion assembly (1).
- Adjust the front seat
assembly up and forward in order to access the fasteners (1) at the
rear of the front seat cushion assembly
- Install the seat cushion assembly fasteners (1) to the
seat cushion assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the seat cushion assembly fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Angle the front of the front seat cushion up, in order to access
the front seat cushion assembly fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the seat cushion assembly fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to

in SIR.
