  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  4. Attempt to establish communications with the RKE system.

Does the scan tool communicate with the RKE system?

  1. Select display RKE DTC function using the scan tool.
  2. Check for any RKE Bxxxx DTCs.

Are any RKE Bxxx DTCs stored?

If any Uxxxx codes are present refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type .

Attempt to establish communications with the other systems connected to the same serial data line (PCM, RIM, ABS, IPC, etc.).

Does the scan tool communicate with the other systems?

Go to Step 5

Go to Scan Tool Diagnostics

Operate the transmitter through all button functions.

Is the transmitter functioning properly?

--

System OK

Go to Remote Keyless Entry System Check

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the RKE module connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  4. Check for voltage between the RKE module terminal A to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

Check for voltage between the RKE module terminal D (w/o AU5) or terminal C (w/ AU5).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 11

Check for continuity between the RKE module connector terminal B and C (w/o AU5) or terminal B and D (w/o AU5) and the DLC terminal 2.

Is there continuity?

Go to Step 8

  1. Replace the keyless entry module. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .
  2. Program all RKE transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 540 (ORN).

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 12

Repair the open in CKT 1807 (PPL).

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 12

Repair the open in CKT 1351 (BLK).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Install or connect any components or connectors that were removed or disconnected.
  3. Clear all DTCs. Refer to Clearing DTCs .

Are all DTCs cleared?

--

System OK
