Removal Procedure

  1. Fully extend telescopic steering column.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

  3. Object Number: 298083  Size: SH
  4. Remove the console storage bin (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement .
  5. Insert blocks in the front and rear of drive wheels.
  6. Place shifter in neutral.
  7. Remove the console trim plate. Console Trim Plate Replacement .

  9. Remove the left and right console side trim panels (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  10. Disconnect the shifter cable from the shifter. Refer to Shift Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
  11. Remove shifter cable retaining bolt from bracket.
  12. Disconnect park lock cable electrical connector.
  13. Disconnect park lock cable from shifter. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

  15. Remove the fasteners (1) from the front of the console to the IP carrier.

  16. Object Number: 298088  Size: SH
  17. Remove the fasteners (2) from the rear of the console.

  18. Object Number: 105560  Size: SH
  19. Disconnect the console wiring harness connectors (1, 2, 3).
  20. Remove the fasteners securing both front seats and move the seats rearward to allow access to the center console. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.

  22. Remove the console side support bracket to floor retaining bolts (1).
  23. Remove the center console.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position console assembly into position and feed wiring harness back into original position.
  2. Lift up on the rear on console and slide forward to align front edges of the console with the IP lower and sit rear of console onto rear studs.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the console side support bracket to floor retaining bolts (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the side support bracket fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the front seats. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.

  7. Object Number: 105560  Size: SH
  8. Connect the console wiring harness connectors (1, 2, 3).

  9. Object Number: 298088  Size: SH
  10. Install the fasteners (2) to the rear of the console.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the rear fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 298086  Size: SH
  12. Install the fasteners (1) to the front of the console.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the front fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  14. Connect the park lock cable to the shifter. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
  15. Install the shifter cable retaining bolt to the bracket.
  16. Connect the park lock cable electrical connector.
  17. Connect the shift cable to the shifter. Refer to Shift Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

  19. Install the left and right console trim panel (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  20. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  21. Place the shifter in park.
  22. Remove the blocks from the wheels.

  23. Object Number: 298083  Size: SH
  24. Install the console storage bin (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement .
  25. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  26. Return the telescopic steering column to the original position.
