Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 298098  Size: SH
  1. Remove right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the DLC (1) from knee bolster.
  4. Remove four fasteners (2) securing the knee bolster reinforcement to the IP lower.
  5. Remove the knee bolster reinforcement (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 298098  Size: SH
  1. Align knee bolster reinforcement (3) to the lower IP and install the fasteners.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the four fasteners (2) to the knee bolster reinforcement.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the DLC (1) to the knee bolster.
  6. Install knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  7. Install right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
