Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

    2. Object Number: 298107 Size: SH
  2. Remove instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  3. Remove fasteners (2) securing defroster grille to IP carrier.
  4. Partially remove the defroster grille (3).
  5. Remove the sensors from the defroster grille. Refer to Sunload and Twilight Sentinel Sensor Replacement .

    6. Remove the defroster grille.

Installation Procedure
  1. Partially install the defroster grille.
  2. Install the sensors to the defroster grille. Refer to Sunload and Twilight Sentinel Sensor Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 298107 Size: SH
  3. Align defroster grille (3) with IP carrier.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fasteners (2) to the defroster grille.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the defroster grille fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System

    7. in SIR.
