J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 130640  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  4. Remove hood latch bracket. Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the discharge hose nut from the condenser.
  6. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.

  8. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the condenser.
  9. Remove the evaporator hose from the condenser.
  10. Remove and discard the sealing washers from the discharge hose and the evaporator hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 287612  Size: SH
  12. Remove the condenser mounting bolts.

  13. Object Number: 287613  Size: SH
  14. Remove the left side of the condenser from the retainer.

  15. Object Number: 287615  Size: SH
  16. Remove the right side of the condenser from the retainer.
  17. Remove the condenser from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the condenser add refrigerant oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities for system capacity information.

  1. Install the right side of the condenser into the retainer.

  2. Object Number: 287613  Size: SH
  3. Install the left side of the condenser into the retainer.

  4. Object Number: 287612  Size: SH
  5. Position the condenser in the vehicle.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the condenser mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  9. Install new sealing washers to discharge hose and the evaporator hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  10. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser.
  11. Install the evaporator hose nut to the condenser.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  13. Install the discharge hose to the condenser.
  14. Install the discharge hose nut to the condenser.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  16. Install the hood latch bracket. Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement in Body Front End.
  17. Install the headlamps. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  18. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  19. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
  20. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
