Service VME - Rear Cigar Lighters Discontinued

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Warranty claim activity and repair order reviews have verified that rear cigar lighters are inappropriately being installed in 2003 Cadillac DeVilles. With the exception of the professional vehicle, the 2003 model year DeVille discontinued rear cigar lighters as a regular vehicle feature. If a customer desires rear cigar lighters in their vehicle they are available as a dealer installed accessory with that expense covered by the customer.

Dealers who are ordering and installing lighters in vehicles under warranty should stop immediately.

This running production change along with numerous others on the Escalade, Escalade EXT, Seville SLS and STS and the DeVille, DHS and DTS were detailed in Administrative message CAG20020133 dated 9/16/02. Please review this important message once again and ensure that all dealership personnel are aware of these changes.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
