To enter the navigation self-diagnostic mode, perform the following procedure:
The Diagnosis Menu screen has seven buttons. The top two buttons, LINE/DEALER and INSPECTION, have no function; they serve as functional titles for the buttons below them.

Each of the five buttons, when pressed, leads to a menu or set of submenus which may be used to perform various navigation self-test procedures.
Pressing the SYSTEM button on the Diagnosis Menu screen initiates a self-diagnostic test of the navigation system. Once this self-running test is complete, the SYSTEM CHECK screen appears. If everything is normal, this screen displays:
Press the DIAG MENU button on this screen to return to the Diagnosis Menu screen.
Pressing the DIAG MEMO button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a screen titled DIAG MEMORY DISP. This screen has four buttons, and each button, when pressed, leads to a submenu. The four buttons are:
These four menus are used to display system internal diagnostic codes. Each internal code that may be displayed on one of these submenus has an equivalent scan tool diagnostic trouble code (DTC). For that reason, the specific internal diagnostic codes, as read through the Diag Memory Display screen, will not be listed in this section.
Pressing the VEHICLE SIG button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a screen titled VEHICLE SIG. This screen displays several system parameters, as follows:
Pressing the DISPLAY button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a screen titled DISP INSP MENU. This screen has five buttons, and each button, when pressed, leads to a submenu. The five buttons are:
These five submenus may be used to test the navigation display head (NDH) hard keys (on each side of the screen), the complete touch screen, and the screen colors, brightness and contrast. The submenus are described below.
For export vehicles with television (UE7), the DISP INSP MENU screen has six buttons. The sixth button is TV. Pressing the TV button leads to a submenu, described below.
Pressing the HARD SW button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads to a screen titled HARD SWITCH. This screen shows the name of each hard key on the navigation display head (NDH). When the pressing of the hard key is recognized, the color of the switch on the screen changes to yellow-green.
Pressing the TOUCH SW button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads to a screen titled TOUCH SWITCH (V). This screen has a grid of numbered vertical lines. When the touching of the line on the screen is recognized, the line disappears. Pressing the NEXT button on this screen leads to a screen titled TOUCH SWITCH (H). This screen has a grid of numbered horizontal lines. When the touching of the line on the screen is recognized, the line disappears.
Provides the navigation display head (NDH) software version.
Pressing the BRIGHT button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads to a screen titled BRI/CON. This screen is used to test the screen brightness and contrast. Brightness and contrast, if changed with this screen, revert back to their original settings upon exiting the diagnostic self-test.
Pressing the COLOR BAR button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads to a screen titled DISP COLOR BAR. This screen may be used to test the display color to make sure that the color band and the color name above the band match.
Pressing the TV button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads to the TV Adjust screen. This screen may be used to test the television tuner functions, the television antennas and the television screen adjustments (color, tint, contrast and brightness).
For each of the inspection submenu screens described above, press the DISP MENU button to return to the Display Inspection Menu screen.
Pressing the NAVI button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a screen titled NAVI DIAG MENU. This screen has three buttons and each button, when pressed, leads to a submenu. The three buttons are:
These three submenus may be used to test the navigation module (NAV) color signals and GPS information. These submenus are described below.
Pressing the PROGRAM button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a screen titled PROGRAM VER. This screen displays software version information and the hardware part number for the navigation module (NAV). Included on this screen is a VERS UP button. This button may be used to update the navigation module software. Do not proceed to the PROG VERS UP screen unless you have the program disk available and the necessary instructions to perform this update.
Pressing the RGB INFO button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a screen titled RGB CHECK. This screen may be used to test the color signals sent from the navigation module (NAV) to the navigation display head (NDH). Five color bars are shown. They are black (BK), red (R), green (G), blue (B) and white (W).
Pressing the GPS INFO button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a screen titled GPS INFO. This screen displays the status of the navigation GPS system. This screen provides the following information:
Included on the GPS INFO screen is the SAT button. Pressing this button leads to the SATELLITE INFO screen. This screen provides specific parameters (latitude, longitude and condition) for each satellite received. If the condition (CND) field is blank for a particular satellite, the satellite is not being received.
Note than when checking satellite information, the vehicle must be outside in an open area. You can not check GPS information inside a building; the navigation system does not receive GPS information inside a building.
For each of the submenu screens described above, press the NAVI MENU button to return to the NAVI DIAG MENU screen.
