Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. With a scan tool, perform a speaker test on each speaker.

Does each speaker operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do all speakers on one side of the vehicle malfunction, but the speakers on the other side operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 8

Measure AC voltage from the radio feed circuit to the radio return circuit of the inoperative channel, at the radio amplifier.

When music is playing, is any voltage measured?

Go to Step 12

Test the radio output circuits of the inoperative channel for an open, short or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Does the vehicle have BOSE and the right channel is inoperative?

Go to Step 7

Test the circuits of the RH rear door speaker for a short. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Measure AC voltage from the feed circuit to the return circuit of the inoperative speaker.

When music is playing, is any voltage measured?

Replace the speaker. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement , Radio Rear Speaker Replacement , Front Upper Speaker Replacement , Radio Rear Side Door Speaker Replacement , or Radio Front Side Door Lower Speaker Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
