Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the two nuts securing the outlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the bank 1 intermediate pipe/hose from the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve.
  5. Remove the vacuum lines connected to the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve.
  6. Remove the three nuts securing the AIR shut-off valve to the engine.
  7. Remove the AIR shut-off valve from the bank 1 AIR outlet pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve with a new gasket to the bank 1 AIR outlet pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the three nuts securing the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve to the engine.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the three nuts to 9N·m  (80 lb in).

  5. Install the vacuum lines.
  6. Reconnect the bank 1 AIR intermediate pipe/hose and clamp to the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve.
  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Install the two nuts securing the bank 1 AIR outlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the two nuts to 9N·m  (80 lb in).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
