Removal Procedure

Important: The rear shelf panel is an acoustic piece of the rear compartment. Removal should only be done for replacement. The rear speaker, grille and rear compartment attachments are all serviceable without removing the rear shelf panel.


    Object Number: 106201  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the headrests and shoulder belt retractors. Refer to Rear Seat Belt Retractor Replacement in Seat Belts.
  3. Remove the 2 push fasteners from the cross car beam.
  4. Lift up on the front edge of the rear shelf panel in order to release the adhesive tape seal.
  5. Pull forward on the rear shelf panel in order to release the adhesive tape seal.
  6. Rotate the shelf panel and disconnect the wiring harness connector.
  7. Remove the rear shelf panel.
  8. Transfer the speaker grille (as necessary).

Installation Procedure

Important: When installing the same rear shelf panel, all of the old adhesive must be removed from the rear shelf panel and mating surface in the vehicle. New adhesive tape must be used. Adhesive tape can be obtained from GM Service Parts.

  1. Install the rear shelf into the vehicle.
  2. Connect the wiring harness connector.
  3. Remove the protective strip from the rear adhesive seal.
  4. Slide the rear shelf panel rearward.
  5. Ensure that the 3 rear tabs are aligned with slots in the rear window drain panel.
  6. Push the rear shelf panel tightly to the rear in order to seat the adhesive seal.
  7. Raise the front of the rear shelf panel enough in order to remove the protective tape on the front adhesive seal.
  8. Seat the front of the rear shelf panel to the cross car beam.
  9. Install the 2 push in retainers in order to secure the rear shelf panel.
  10. Install the headrests and shoulder belt retractors. Refer to Rear Seat Belt Retractor Replacement in Seat Belts.
  11. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
