When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, ignition
positive voltage is applied on CKT 639 (PNK) to terminal F of the cruise control
module. When the cruise control ON/OFF lever switch is moved to the ON position,
ignition positive voltage is applied on CKT 397 (GRY) to terminal A of the
cruise control module connector. If the brake pedal is not depressed or the
cancel lever is not depressed, ignition positive voltage is present on CKT
696 (LT GRN) at the cruise control module terminal D. If the brake pedal
is depressed, battery positive voltage (B+) is present on CKT 17 (WHT) at
the cruise control module terminal G.
When the cruise control lever switch is moved to the R/A position, ignition
positive voltage is applied on CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) to terminal C of the cruise
control module. When the cruise control lever switch is moved to the SET/COAST
position, ignition positive voltage is present on CKT 84 (DK BLU) at terminal
B of the cruise control module. CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) at terminal K of the
cruise control is the vehicle speed signal input from the PCM. In operation,
vehicle speed signal voltage oscillates between a high of battery positive
voltage (B+) and a low of 0.5 volts. CKT 150 (BLK) at terminal E of the cruise
control module is ground. CKT 396 (LT BLU/BLK) at terminal J of the cruise
control module is the cruise control engaged output signal to the PCM. CKT
83 (DK GRN) at terminal H of the cruise control module is the cruise inhibit
input signal from the PCM.
The PCM has the ability to disable the cruise control if conditions
are detected which would make cruise control operation undesirable. The PCM
inhibits cruise control operation under any of the following conditions:
• | The transaxle is in park, neutral, low or reverse gear. |
• | Engine speed is too high. |
• | Vehicle speed is too high. |
• | Vehicle acceleration or deceleration rate is too high. |
• | Antilock brake system/traction control system is active for more
than two seconds. |
If the cruise status signal on CKT 396 (LT BLU/BLK) indicates that cruise
control is still engaged when the PCM is inhibiting cruise control operation,
DTC P1554 sets.
