Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 291654  Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the radio or the navigation display module. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment or Navigation Display Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the AC/heater control head. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC System-Automatic.
  4. Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  5. Look through the radio opening in the instrument panel (I/P) and locate the release button (1) on the side of the switch.
  6. Depress and hold the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab, located on the RH lower side of the ignition switch, using a flat bladed tool or other suitable tool.

  8. Pull on the ignition cylinder to remove.

  9. Object Number: 291677  Size: SH
  10. Release the retainers from the ignition cylinder bezel.

  11. Object Number: 291678  Size: SH
  12. Slide the reader/exciter (4) and the cylinder cover (2) off the ignition cylinder.
  13. Release the retainers from the light pipe (3) to the cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 291678  Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition cylinder cover (2) and the light pipe (3) onto the ignition cylinder and engage the retainers.
  2. Slide the reader/exciter (4) onto the ignition cylinder and align to the slot on the cylinder.
  3. Install the ignition cylinder bezel to the cylinder and engage the retainers.

  4. Object Number: 291659  Size: SH
  5. Insert the ignition lock cylinder (1) with the key installed into the ignition switch (2).
  6. Press the ignition lock cylinder into place.
  7. The lock cylinder retaining tab will produce an audible click.

  8. Check to be sure that the ignition lock cylinder is fully engaged.
  9. • Use light force to pull lock cylinder and attempt to remove it.
    • The lock cylinder should not be removable.
  10. Turn the ignition to LOCK, then remove the key.
  11. Install the AC/heater control head. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC System-Automatic.
  12. Install the radio or the navigation display module. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment or Navigation Display Module Replacement .
  13. Release the parking brake.
  14. Check the ignition switch for proper operation in all positions.

Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 291654  Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the right I/P endcap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  3. Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  4. Look through the endcap opening in the instrument panel (I/P) and locate the release button (1) on the side of the switch.
  5. Use a flat-bladed tool or other suitable tool in order to depress and hold the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab on the right lower side of the ignition switch.

  7. Pull on the ignition cylinder in order to remove.

  8. Object Number: 291677  Size: SH
  9. Release the retainers from the ignition cylinder bezel.

  10. Object Number: 291678  Size: SH
  11. Slide the reader/exciter (4) and the cylinder cover (2) off from the ignition cylinder.
  12. Release the retainers from the light pipe (3) to the cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 291678  Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition cylinder cover (2) and the light pipe (3) onto the ignition cylinder and engage the retainers.
  2. Slide the reader/exciter (4) onto the ignition cylinder and align the slot on the cylinder.
  3. Install the ignition cylinder bezel to the cylinder and engage the retainers.

  4. Object Number: 291659  Size: SH
  5. Insert the ignition lock cylinder (1) with the key installed into the ignition switch (2).
  6. Press the ignition lock cylinder into place.
  7. The lock cylinder retaining tab will produce an audible click.

  8. Ensure that the ignition lock cylinder is fully engaged.
  9. • Use light force in order to pull the lock cylinder in a removal attempt.
    • The lock cylinder should not be removable.
  10. Turn the ignition to LOCK and remove the key.
  11. Install the I/P endcap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  12. Release the parking brake.
  13. Inspect the ignition switch for proper operation in all positions.
